Whether you're a seamstress-in-the-making or a fashion hobbyist looking to increase your knowledge and refine your sewing skills, this program is the perfect place to start. Sunday Discovery are project based classes designed to introduce you to the world of sewing. You will be able to gauge if you want to sign up for our next introductory 4 week sewing course. Participants under 18 may be accompanied by an adult. The participating pair will make 1 project.

SKILLS & TECHNIQUES:

• Sewing-machine basics

• Tools and terminology

• Stitches: Regular stitch, stay stitch, topstitch, edge stitch, basting, stitch-in-the-ditch

• Seam finishes: pinked, french, flat-felt, and turned & stitched

• Preparing, marking, and cutting fabric

• Reading a commercial pattern

• Finishing: hemming, buttons, and/or zippers (if applicable to project)

ITEMS PROVIDED:

• use of VNY Sewing Academy sewing machine and thread

• sewing kit

• 1/2 YARD OF A FABRIC for the pillow

No returns on payments received after attending the first class. Viscera NY Sewing Academy is not responsible for making up any classes a student misses during his/her session dates. Classes run the dates agreed upon and will not be altered unless in the case of inclement weather or a natural disaster.
